Paola Gets A Striking Celebrity Street Art Makeover

An impressive street art mural has just been unveiled in Paola, right opposite the police station.
Commissioned by Eusebio Bar, recently reopened under new management, the freehand graffiti portrait on the building’s facade depicts the new proprietor— Shyli Cassar, best known for her fame as a local rapper.

The young starlet has built up an admirable fan base, having first started out by uploading her rap recordings onto YouTube and Facebook. This year, 18 year old Shyli collaborated with none other than Malta’s Pop Princess Ira Losco, and featured on the hit summer track “Oh My God”. And having just opened up her new bar, there’s all the more reason to celebrate. It’s safe to say it’s been a pretty good year for Shyli so far!

The impressive mural took just two days to complete, and is the work of talented Maltese street artist Justin Bonnici, who also doubles up as a tattooist. His stunningly realistic portraits have already attracted positive attention and a steady following on social media.

This isn’t the first time Bonnici has been asked to make his mark on a private local establishment; his work can be admired at Zion Reggae Bar in Marsaskala, as well as various abandoned outdoor spots around the island.
