Return Of The King: Adrian Zammit Is Back And He’s More Relax Goffy Than Ever
The Marsa man, the Maltese myth, the living legend – Adrian Zammit is back, and he isn’t letting any relationship stop him from taking on the meaty topic of freedom of speech.
Malta was collectively left in shock after Adrian, Malta’s most important influencer, stopped uploading his popular and very local discussion videos after getting a girlfriend. The show, which features call-ins from Maltese people, has become a proper platform for people to share their fears and hopes for the country.
However, whether Adrian heard Malta’s calls for his much-needed voice to return, or he just couldn’t resist jumping onto some current topics, he decided to whip up his phone, and get back to business.
Adrian suddenly showed up on our feed last week, giving Ġorġ tal-laħam a proper shout out and promised a discussion on freedom of speech.
Malta truly felt right again, like we were back home, with a shot of Adrian sat on a limestone block eating a sandwich plastered across our screens.
Importantly, he remained very much on-brand in this highly-awaited video, referring to the food he is going to eat that night, that it takes a while to cook, and, after signing off, asking the cameraman “waqqaftlu?” like the true man-of-the-street that he is.
The hype was real – and for good reason.
Just look at Goffy go.
And then, finally, the big payoff – an entire hour of straight talk from the man himself.
Published last Friday, Adrian’s take on freedom of speech has already racked up over 24,000 views.
It was one heated episode, from people calling him angrily asking why he left, to other people going super hard on the theme of freedom of speech and racism.
At one point, after he said that we shouldn’t generalise and judge a group of people because of the colour of their skin, he started getting some aggressive phone calls.
Eventually, a person called in and started yelling about Joseph Muscat’s new facial hair, leading to Adrian literally pushing his bowl of food away and huffing and puffing heavily.
However, no amount of heckling is gonna cramp Adrian’s style.
“This show is like reality,” he says at one point, “Life is full of people trying to put spokes in your wheels. It is your job to break those spokes, and put them somewhere else.”
Words of wisdom.
However, it was not to last – after the surprise Friday upload, people wondered: was he back for good? Will we be getting videos every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, like it used to be?
Basically, no.
