Emma Muscat’s Amici adventure came to an abrupt end in the cruellest way possible last night – eliminated at the final hurdle before next week’s grand final. The result has angered and dismayed the several Maltese fans she made along the way, many of whom stayed up late to watch the show. 

These are some of the explanations and suspicions voiced on social media as to why the Maltese starlet was eliminated from the Italian talent show…

1. It was clearly staged 

2. Emma was too much of a threat

3. What else were you expecting from the Italians? 

4. It’s because Maltese people weren’t allowed to vote 

5. Amici was never going to let a non-Italian win 

6. Carmen (Emma’s rival) clearly knew what was going to happen

9. How dare they when Malta employs so many Italians??

10. That’s the thanks we get for giving Italy 12 points in the Eurovision 

11. They’re obviously just jealous of Malta!
