Popular Scottish-French TV actor Sebastian Roché has joined the already star-studded cast of the new National Geographic series Genius: Picasso and is currently shooting his own scenes for the show in Malta.

Famous for TV cult hits like The Young Pope, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, Roché arrived in Malta last week to shoot his scenes. And judging by his Instagram feed, it seems like seven days is all it took for Roché to fall head over heels for our islands.

“Shooting in the beautiful island of Malta with Valletta in the background,” the actor told his 280,000 followers on Instagram last week. Several thousands of likes later, dozens of people reached out to the actor in the comments section to either wish they were there to meet him, or appreciate the beauty of the Maltese islands.

Soon enough, Roché was uploading entire compilations of his travels around the island, and it quickly became obvious that the world-travelling actor was falling in loving with what the islands had to offer. “Such a beautiful place,” he titled a group of seven photos featuring everything from the megalithic temples to the impressive cliffs in the north. And of course, a classic shot of Mdina’s narrow roads also made it to the actor’s feed.

Over the weekend, Roché followed up the #MaltaLove with some snaps from the capital city, where he lived up the tourist life in style.

“Valletta, simply beautiful,” the actor’s Instagram post read, with nine whole photos ranging from the classic Upper Barrakka view to a shot of Sant Iermu on the other side of the peninsula.

Sebastian Roché’s IMDB page is as impressive as they get.

The 53-year-old actor has starred in a multitude of popular series, such as The Vampire Diaries (as Mikael Mikaelson), Supernatural (as Balthazar), Fringe (as Thomas Jerome Newton), The Man In The High Castle, The Young Pope, 24, Odyssey 5 and Criminal Minds. He even voiced video games like Mafia III and Beowulf.

Genius will chronicle the life and work of Spanish painter Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the last century. The new season, which is set for a 2018 premier, will star Antonio Banderas as the title role.
