Watch: Italian Football Legend Buffon Reveals He’ll Feature On Maltese Champions’ Carnival Float This Year
Last year’s biggest Malta Carnival winners have just revealed who will be featuring front and centre on 2025’s float… and it’s none other than Italian footballing legend Gianlugi Buffon!
In a video uploaded to their Facebook page moments ago, Triton Carnival Company not only made the big reveal public, but also got Buffon to say it himself.
“Many have been wondering who that famous Italian footballer on Triton Carnival Company Malta’s float is,” Buffon said in the cheeky short clip. “And now, I can reveal it – it will be me, Gigi Buffon! Thanks guys, you gave me a great gift.”

Last year, Triton Carnival Company’s towering float – which featured everyone from Italian DJ Gigi D’Agostino to Lady Gaga, Shakira and Bob Marley – took home the top spot in Konkors Nru 1- Karrijiet Trijonfali Sezzjoni A, the largest category for floats in Malta.
For 2025, the company is preparing to showcase “Una Notte Con Le Stelle”, or A Night With The Stars, and beyond BTS teasers, has also been slowly unveiling the stars they have in mind. And with everyone from Leonardo Da Vinci to Gerry Scotti being celebrated on their social media, expect another massive float hitting the streets of Valletta next weekend!
Triton aren’t new to Malta’s Carnival scene, having joined the scene 11 years ago, back in 2014. And on its first year, the company had actually also placed first in the Section A competition with an intricate Japanese-themed float. Last year, Malta Records honoured them with another record, naming Joswa Borg as the youngest-ever leader to lead a Section A float to victory, an achievement he got back in 2019 he was just 22 years and 42 days old.
