WATCH: Comedian Takes Jabs At Malta On Comedy Central With Hilariously Inaccurate Facts

Comedians from across the globe have developed a recent obsession with our tiny island nation. From Jim Jefferies’ multiple skits on his would-be death in Malta, to Jimmy Carr and Alan Davies on QI, something about us makes for comedy gold.

The country’s latest mention comes from Comedy Central’s Jordan Klepper on his show, The Opposition. While the basic facts seem to be there, his references are all just a little bit off, and just wrong enough to be hilarious.

He starts with what is probably the best American metaphor for Malta we’ve heard in a long time. “Is this even America, or is this… Malta! Italy’s Hawaii.”

Following that up with a hobby we’ve all found ourselves enjoying at least once in our lives. “I’m just sashaying down the beautiful Mediterranean coast, snacking on 13cm-long Sargu.” Yup. Sounds about right. Last night I met up with my friends at Spinola and we all just walked along, gnawing at our five-inch White Sea Bream.

Perhaps the crux of his argument, and the dig at American’s for not electing Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, is that Malta is super progressive for having a female president. While it is amazing, he’s not exactly correct when he says we elected her. “All the Maltese people [walk around] bragging about their female president who they elected back in 2014.”

And of course, the final nail in the coffin is the Italian accent we definitely all have. “Well, guess what? I’m not with her. You hear that Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.”

Thanks for the heads up, Matt
