Maltese singer Davinia has opened up about how her beloved pet Basset Hound Sophie was killed… by her relative’s mixed-breed pit bull Pandora.
Davinia, who is currently studying in New York, shared the devastating news from the Big Apple on her Instagram story last night.
“Life can be amazing, life can be fucking shitty,” Davinia told her followers in lament over the death of her dog.
Urging others to be aware of vicious dogs, she went on to explain how Pandora had pounced on Sophie while the two were swimming, which caused Sophie to swallow a lot of sea water. Pandora had attacked Sophie in the past when they were eating together so the family thought they just needed to be separated but the issue clearly went deeper than that.
Half an hour later, Sophie suffered a heart attack as a result of her ordeal and sadly passed away. Her family had made her aware of the bad news while she was on her way to an exam.
“All I can tell you is,” the singer continued, “if you have a dog who is just a little bit vicious, who gives you an inkling that they can be violent with other dogs – or humans for that matter – do not take the risk.”
In closing, she thanked everyone for their support and continued about her day while.
An earlier version of the article incorrectly stated that Pandora was a Basset Hound. This has since been amended to clarify that she is a pit bull
