WATCH: What’s Scaring Chiara Ahead Of Her Massive Acting Debut?

Fear can be a powerful motivator, and as Eurovision royalty Chiara prepares for her big acting debut she says there’s no shortage of fear to push her along.

“I was so excited to take on the part,” she tells me as we speak behind the scenes of the anticipated musical Il-?anina Maddalena. “What really sold me was the fact that I would be involved in an original Maltese musical. It’s been a while since the last one and I’m happy to see them back. That said, I’m not really known as an actress, so I hope that I manage to do the part justice.”

The singer joins a cast of over twenty local actors and singers for a nine-day run of the musical at Pjazza Teatru Rjal in Valletta.

Portraying the Mother Superior of a convent, Chiara tells us that unlike in music, she’ll be playing a character that has nothing to do with her day-to-day life but still feels a connection with the character.

“The madre has many interesting sides to her, and I’m involved in a lot of emotional scenes. I’ve never been a nun, and I don’t plan to be one,” she adds with a smile.

But Chiara isn’t the only Eurovison alum to be gracing the stage for their big acting debut. Warrior Amber will be portraying the play’s nastier side with a few tricks up her sleeve.

“I’ve got some cool, but complicated things to do on stage. They’ll be worth the effort though, and you have to come and see the show to find out what they are. Hopefully you won’t see me hobbling out in crutches on the second night!”
