If you weren’t one of the thousands people to listen to Michela Pace’s Eurovision entry Chameleon within the first hour of its release, chances are you’ve given in to temptation by now and have developed some sort of opinion on it.

And if you haven’t yet, you might want to give it a chance, because it’s quite a monumental moment is Malta’s music industry as far as Eurovision is concerned.

And the video is pretty iconic too.

But who do we have to credit for Chameleon?

Well, let’s break it down… because a massive team of people had to work together to make this track and video come to life.

The song was written by a team of writers who are part of a label known as Symphonix International; the label behind many other Eurovision entries… including this year’s entry for Azerbaijan. It seems there’s now something else that can be added to the list of Malta-Azerbaijan connections.

The team of writers who worked on Chameleon is made up of Joacim Perrson, Paula Winger, Borislav Milanov and Johan Alkanas, making this the first local entry to be written by international writers.

The video was produced and directed by a team from our national broadcaster, PBS

With popular freelance steadicam operator and videographer Charles Ahar at the head of the team.

Michela and all the dancers and models in the video were styled by Peter Carbonaro, with hair and make-up being handled by Diane Nikolic and Marielle Calleja respectively.

Christian Scerri from Southville Dancers was behind choreography and movement, with dancers from Southville busting some impressive moves alongside the girls from dance powerhouse The Unit.

The next step is to look at live staging for the song

Of course, this has to both match (and also step up from) the aesthetic of the music video. With such a high standard set visually, the team is going to have to work extra hard to avoid the performance falling flat. No pressure.

No doubt, the performance will include some killer choreo. And we can’t wait to see what Michela will be wearing.
