Little Light, Big Heart: Maltese Girl Recycles Candles To Help Animals And Children In Hospital

Six-year-old Lenka Micallef has been selling candles and donating proceeds to animal shelters after giving used candles a second life.
Lenka started collecting used candles, melting them again to craft beautiful new ones. She then sells them together with her mum Donia to donate proceeds to shelters caring for abandoned animals.
“Lately her mission has grown even deeper. Now on summer break after finishing school, she’s taken on a heartfelt initiative: creating 30 angel-shaped candles accompanied by hand-designed bookmarks. These aren’t just gifts—they’re tokens of strength and compassion meant for children in hospitals in Malta currently in rainbow ward (Puttinu cares) who are fighting serious illnesses,” Donia told Lovin Malta.
Each candle is crafted as a symbol of hope and a reminder that these children are not alone. Lenka is set to hand out the candles in the rainbow ward this Thursday.
Well done for the initiative Lenka!
