An event called “Paw Walk in Memory of Jake Vella” is being organised to help abandoned animals.

Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said, together with the family of Jake Vella, announced the details of the event.

This activity will be held in memory of Jake Vella, a young boy who made a profound impact on the Maltese community through his love for animals and his efforts to help abandoned animals. All funds raised during the event will go to the Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA), a sanctuary that was very close to Jake’s heart.

This annual walk will take place on 14th December, at 10am, near the main entrance of Mater Dei Hospital. The event continues to be a symbol of solidarity and love, bringing together Jake’s family, relatives, friends, and community members to remember a boy who loved animals deeply and, despite living with the rare ROHHAD disease, was known for his golden heart. At the same time, the event serves to raise funds for animals in need.

“I first met Jake four years ago. He was a boy who inspired everyone around him and was always at the forefront in helping animals, despite the suffering he was experiencing. During this walk, we will not only be helping animals but also continuing to honour Jake’s beautiful memory during the Christmas season,” said Bugeja Said.

“As Jake’s parents, we are organising the walk around Mater Dei, a place that meant so much to him. On 14th December at 10am, we appeal to the public to attend this walk so that Jake’s legacy will never fade,” said Jake’s family.

The public is warmly invited to attend, and those with dogs are encouraged to bring them along. All funds raised during the activity will go to the Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA). Donations can also be made via Revolut at 99870624.
