WATCH: These Maltese Hip-Hop Dancers Are So Smooth We Can’t Believe They’re Not Butter
Cheryl Lofreda and her crew of dancers at Concept of Movement have been making waves in the local dance scene for a few years now; travelling all over the world to compete in dance events and sharing their moves with followers on Facebook.
Their latest video is a true testament to the ‘softer’ side of hip-hop, combining tutting and lyrical hip-hop to create a moving performance to the song ‘The Woods’ by Hollow Coves.

And how our phones often stop us from communicating with each other. Shot across various locations such as the Birgu Waterfront and L-Aħrax in Mellieħa, the girls used the video as an excuse to bond a bit and explore the island.
But really they just wanted to show off their skills in a sick piece of choreography by Cheryl herself, and we’re not mad about it at all.
The dancers in the video have only been dancing together for about five or six months – but they’re so in sync you’d think they’ve been dancing together for a while. The featured dancers are;
Ella Lautier, Yan Mifsud, Martina Miruzzi, Martina Calleja, Emma Spiteri and Cheryl Lofreda.
The style of the song that they set their movement to isn’t really all that synonymous with hip-hop, in fact its quite the opposite. Although its definitely not the only style they use, mastering the harder songs and movement too.
But this style is something that Concept of Movement have been exploring quite a lot recently.
Concept of Movement will be performing at Notte Bianca alongside local singer Sam Christie
Their performance is called ‘Folk Meets Hip-Hop‘ and will see Cheryl Lofreda and her crew presenting an expressive choreography to the indie tunes and smooth voice of folk musician Sam Christie.
