After Yesterday’s Campaign, Over 400 Maltese Children’s Dreams Were Fulfilled

Yesterday, Malta found out that over 750 children in need would be left without a present this Christmas after gifts promised to them were not delivered in time.

However, in less than 24 hours, the people of Malta have responded, and around 400 gifts have been delivered to Children’s Dreams, the Maltese charity making Christmas happen for hundreds of Maltese kids who come from troubled backgrounds.

After eCabs stepped in to provide logistical help, as well as companies like Quicklets who offered their help, alongside a media campaign to increase awareness, Remenda Grech, Operations Manager at Children’s Dreams and a social worker told Lovin Malta that “a miracle has happened.”

“Lots of people must have forgotten the deadline, and several people came yesterday whilst others gave us a call and told us they will be delivering. Others have sent us a bank transfer to make up for those that were not delivered. We have to thank everyone for helping us create awareness, and most importantly the public, because their support was incredible,” she said

With the increased support, and so many people chipping in, Remenda is happy to report that the number of needed gifts has gone down drastically – but more is still needed.

“We have around 280 pledges left, but gifts are coming in at a incredibly fast rate,” she said.

Anyone who wants to deliver a gift to the Children’s Dreams offices but cannot make it to Luqa can now also drop off their gifts at any eCabs office, who will then deliver the gift themselves to the offices.

But the recent push to get the gifts in before the extended deadline – which ended yesterday – and in time to have them sorted for Christmas day has meant that all engines are fully on.

“We are now doing pick-ups ourselves too,” said Remenda.

She also said that “what we need mostly now are clothes and vouchers, which are needed all year round anyway.”

Most importantly she said, its important to “continue creating awareness so that the last gifts are delivered.”
