This Easter, Maypole has demonstrated a commitment to mental health awareness with a heartfelt initiative at Mount Carmel, illuminating the importance of inclusivity and community support during festive times.

Recognising that festive periods, renowned for family gatherings, can be particularly challenging for those dealing with mental health issues, Maypole’s gesture aimed to ensure that individuals suffering from mental conditions feel included and valued.

Sebastian Debono, a director at Maypole, emphasised the significance of making sure that no one is left feeling isolated or overlooked, especially during such family-oriented celebrations.

That’s why Maypole donated 250 figollas, ensuring that each patient could partake in one of Malta’s cherished Easter traditions. This reinforces the message that everyone deserves to feel part of the community.

Stephanie Xuereb, CEO of Mental Health Services, who accompanied Mr. Debono, highlighted the positive impact of such initiatives on patients.

She pointed out how gestures of inclusivity can significantly mitigate feelings of marginalisation and combat the stigma associated with mental health conditions.

If you or anyone you know is going through a difficult period, help is at hand. Please call the 24/7 mental health helpline, 1579.

The helpline offers immediate, free emotional support, advice, and guidance, assisting approximately 180 callers weekly.

Whether individuals are experiencing loneliness, anxiety, sadness, or seeking help to access various services, the helpline stands as a beacon of support, underscoring the community’s dedication to mental health wellbeing, particularly during the festive season.
