What if Malta and Gozo’s playgrounds could be turned into colourful, mini “Disneylands”? Well, that’s exactly what one prominent local designer has conjured up… and it looks amazing!

“The Archipals Playgrounds would blend fun and cultural education across the islands,” Zack Ritchie told Lovin Malta, sharing exclusive renders of what the imagined spaces would look like. Featuring everything from Ritchie’s iconic character Beppe to the whole cast of Archipals – and a whole lot of Maltese iconography like the Knights, the eight-pointed cross and the traditional luzzu boats – the playgrounds are as colourful as they can get, offering more of a theme-park feel than your typical public space.

“The idea is still a proof of concept, it’s an idea to see if there is a public interest,” Ritchie admitted. “This idea came to me when seeing kids play around the Mercury sculptures we installed. It made me smile, but made me realise and think how I can make the sculptures more immersive and more of an experience for children.”
