Five-Year-Old Maltese Girl Reaches Out To The President After Selling Tea Towels To Raise Money For Charity
An entrepreneur, a craftswoman, and just damned cute. This little girl has a dream to raise money to donate by this Christmas. And by George I think she’s got it!
Last summer, a mother walked into a shop in Ireland for chore’s sake; she needed to pick up some tea towels.
Her little girl Eliza looked around the shop and wasn’t too impressed by what she was seeing. Convinced that she could do a better job, she began to formulate her dream.
The young girl’s vision was to start her own collection and donate the money that she raises to the President of Malta to then be able to invest it into Malta’s Community Chest Fund so that it would go to those in need.
Eliza plans to design all 600 tea towels that form part of her collection, and they were an instant hit. “Once Eliza had this dream, I said ‘why not?’,” her mother said. “I love the cause she chose, to entrust the President with the money raises by helping kids in need.”
President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca has sent Eliza an amazing message of support
“I would like to truly commend Eliza for nurturing the value of solidarity from such a young age, and for being an example to her peers. I look forward to welcoming Eliza and her classmates at San Anton Palace to be able to thank her personally, in the name of the hundreds of our Maltese and Gozitan brothers and sisters who seek the assistance of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation on a daily basis,” Her Excellency told Lovin Malta.
Now, Eliza needs your help: she’s got to sell 100 more tea towels to reach her target
She’s nearly achieved her goal, having sold around 500 tea towels already – and now she’s got the last 100 to go to reach her target of 600!
Now, she’s hoping to sell one hundred more to be able to reach her target goal for donations to Malta’s Community Chest Fund.

“I love painting and my brushes so much,” Eliza told the President in her letter. “I hope that you like the idea and I brought a smile on your face”
Eliza even got entrepreneurial and reached out to the President herself. In return of her good deed, Eliza only asked that the President visits her school for a big “bear hug”, or that her and her friends be invited to the President’s place.
This is a girl with vision and determination, no doubt about that.
