Here’s How Malta Reacted To The Massive #LovinMaltaTV Announcement

It’s not easy having your dreams crushed, worse still when you knew it was going to happen. Annually on April Fools you swear you’re not going to fall for any practical joke, but as the content rolls out you just can’t help yourself.

This year Lovin Malta announced the arrival of a brand new entertainment platform that featured exclusive partnerships with Netflix and ITV to license out some of their top shows to Maltese adaptation. While this was (unfortunately) not true, here’s how the whole thing went down.

1. Some people totally fell for it

2. While others were quick to clock the joke

3. But everyone kinda wished it was true

4. The day started with an emotional post by CEO Chris Peregin

5. And it was timed perfectly with our big announcement

Starting bright and early, at 7:30am the first teaser rolled out, highlighting the new platform and all the incredible shows about to be released.

6. Which meant the big names supporting our project soon rolled in

7. And then the four awesome trailers for shows we wish were really happening rolled out:

First up was Chef’s Table – Malta

We’d like to thank all the chefs who welcomed us into their kitchen, Marvin Gauci from Tarragon, Caviar & Bull and Buddhamann, Janine Camilleri from L’Artiglio and Hany Harb from Ali Baba.

Other amazing restaurants featured include Charles Grech, Trabuxu Bistro, Pulled Meat Company, Fat Louie’s, Shoreditch, Bacco Sticks & Sum and Crust. Other chefs also starring in the clip are Nicholas Diacono, Daniel Grech, Rafel Sammut, Alison Azzopardi and Sean Gravina.

Followed by Queer Eye – Malta

Thanks to Antonio’s Barber Shop and Franks Malta for the suave filming space and Armani Exchange Malta for helping us take our straight guys’ fashion through the roof. As well as Rec Media Room for the infinity studio.

Shout out to Daniel Dean Kingswell, JD Patrick and Michael Fells for being such sports, and the wonderful Fab 5: Thomas Camilleri, Sean Mayl, Jean Pierre Cassar, Luke Azzopardi and Chucky Bartolo.

Then the steamiest show online, Temptation Villa

Produced, directed and filmed by the wonderful team at V Squared Media, Temptation Villa  would like to thank Farsons Direct for the champagne, RC World for all the inflatables, Fruitland Co. Ltd. for the fresh fruit, Motors Inc for the sweet ride, the Jeep Renegade, Andrew Schembri for all drone shots and AMC for the champagne glasses and other disposables.

We’d also like to shout-out Davinia Pace for hosting the show and welcoming us into her stunning home, Muxu, Yannick, Dale Camille and Daniel Lake for being our gorgeous ‘boys team’ and Denise Dalton, Taryn Mamo Cefai, Amy and Tiffany Pisani for being out stunning ‘girls team’.

And finally My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With Lou Bondi

Thanks to the Mediterranean Conference Centre for hosting us, Quicklets for being an awesome audience, Lou Bondi for agreeing to do this and Joseph Muscat, Adrian Delia, Ira Losco, Ben Camille and Franco Debono for starring in the would-be show. We’d also like to thank Jeremy Debattista for his help filming and Nexos Lighting for making everyone shine.

We’d also like to thank Zack Ritchie for the wonderful logo, Loop Digital for the website and everyone else who helped us from the inception of the idea, right up to the final posting and sharing.
