IN PHOTOS: Get Into The Festa Vibe With This Collection Of Beautiful Statues From Around Malta
Many people go to the villages festas to enjoy the fireworks. But one Maltese voluntary group wanted to celebrate the sometimes overlooked saintly statues of Malta in a new exhibition in Żabbar.
“The exhibition is divided in two parts; there are 22 statues on display from various Maltese artists alongside a short documentary explaining how these were made, and how these are usually brought up solemnly on the Friday before the feast,” said Reuben Pullicino, one of the organisers.
Reuben forms part of the Grupp Armar Żabbar, who will be celebrating the the group’s 30 year anniversary by putting all these statues under one roof and sharing them with the public. All the statues being displayed are the ones typically displayed during the festa’s march or on the eve of the day – perfect to get you into the festa season mood.
The exhibition is being held at Notre Dame Hall in Żabbar until this Sunday. The exhibition is open Monday to Friday between 6pm to 9pm, Saturday and Sundays between 9.30am to noon and 4.30pm to 9pm.
