Maltese Farmers Rejoice As An Unexpectedly Good Harvest Approaches Next Week

There’s been a lot of doom and gloom surrounding Malta’s farming community, with new challenges seemingly appearing at every turn. However, a much-needed rainy period towards the end of this winter has changed the prospects of the incoming harvest period. 

Indeed, the rains have really changed the prospects of two particular, soon-to-be-harvested crop: the potato and the strawberry.

The good news has spurred online Facebook community Dilettanti tal-agrikoltura, sigar u pjanti to come out in full force celebrating the pleasant surprise, with heartwarming photos from Maltese fields filling many newsfeeds.

While more rain is still needed, the decent amount in the last few months has changed the potential produce from Maltese fields, with farmers excited at the unexpected good harvest.

So if you’re planning on buying local, the coming season should definitely bode well.
