Reverse Advent Calendar: This Maltese Initiative Is Turning An Old Tradition On Its Head For The Best Possible Cause

Article Featured Image

The impact of ridiculous rent increases and the fact that so many seasonal workers are being made redundant after the summer means that a significant amount of people are left living on the breadline in Malta, going without hardly any food.

To help the problem, the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation launched the Reverse Advent Calendar.

The Reverse Advent Calendar’s concept enables locals to get involved in helping the less fortunate during Christmas.

Participation is easy. Grab a box and fill it with one non-perishable food item a day until 24th December (imagine how many people you could feed who desperately need your help). This creates a seven-day package which is a short term relief for those who cannot afford food.

Where can I donate the non-perishable items?

Ideally their HQ in Valletta, but if this is not possible, other drop-off points are specific Quicklets and Zanzi Homes outlets around the Island (a full list can be found here).

Who can donate?

Individuals, schools and companies can donate and it isn’t too late, so please reach out to anyone you know.
