Vatican Officially Slams Gender Spectrum And Questions What Trans* People Are All About During Pride Month

A Vatican office that oversees educational institutions around the world has officially come out against modern gender theory, saying that the belief that gender exists on a spectrum is “nothing more than a confused concept of freedom in the realm of feelings and wants”.

In the new 31-page document, the Congregation for Catholic Education hoped to combat gender theory, which it said was trying to “annihilate the concept of ‘nature.”

Their document, titled ‘Male and female he created them’ was released today, 10th June… in the middle of the globally celebrated Pride Month

“Efforts to go beyond the constitutive male-female sexual difference, such as the ideas of ‘intersex’ or ‘transgender,’ lead to a masculinity or femininity that is ambiguous,” the document states. “This oscillation between male and female becomes, at the end of the day, only a ‘provocative’ display against so-called ‘traditional frameworks’.”

The document discusses modern society’s increasing shift towards separating gender from biological sex

“Gender theory … speaks of a gradual process of de-naturalization, that is a move away from nature and towards an absolute option for the decision of the feelings of the human subject,” the document states.

“In this understanding of things, the view of both sexuality identity and the family become subject to the same ‘liquidity’ and ‘fluidity’ that characterize other aspects of post-modern culture, often founded on nothing more than a confused concept of freedom in the realm of feelings and wants, or momentary desires provoked by emotional impulses and the will of the individual,” it continues.

The document, just barely released, has already been condemned by international LGBT Catholics as a “harmful tool that will be used to oppress and harm not only transgender people, but lesbian, gay, [and] bisexual people, too.”

The document comes after many believed Pope Francis was making amends with the LGBT+ community

Pope Francis is not mentioned in the document, and does not bear his signature. However, with a Vatican office releasing the document, many are awaiting his personal opinion on the document.

Francis himself has shifted on the issue of gender theory and transgender people, moving from a hostile stance, as he did in 2015 when he compared gender theory to nuclear weapons, and a welcoming stance, as he did in 2016 when he met with a Spanish transgender man.

“We must be attentive, not saying all are the same,” Francis had said, continuing to say that “people must be accompanied, as Jesus accompanied.”
