7 Ways We Can Actually Be More Like Jesus
No matter what you believe in – even if it’s nothing – it’s hard to deny that Jesus had some good ideas about how to live in harmony with each other.
In the spirit of Easter, we’ve reimagined some of the most relevant Jesus-lessons and applied them to current situations. Here’s what we think people should do do be more like Jesus today.
1. Stop throwing social media stones
Jesus was big on fighting hypocrisy, urging people to only ‘throw stones’ if they themselves were without sin. We reckon that more people should take this approach when posting nasty comments on Facebook. It gets pretty toxic out there.
2. Turn the other cheek – a.k.a. rise above
Maltese people are used to slinging mud at each other. But we’d all be way better off if we took a breath and chose the high road instead of letting our characteristic temper take over. Maybe schools should make yoga mandatory?
3. Do to the environment whatever you would have it do to you
Jesus was referring to people, but we think it’s high time we started applying this rule to our surroundings. Don’t destroy the environment if you don’t want it to eventually destroy you. Simple.
4. Forgive others their transgressions… it will reduce your anxiety
Holding a grudge can be exhausting, and because we have such tight-knit communities there’s much more scope for us to seethe in the venom of our resentment in Malta. We’re pretty sure JC would suggest letting shit go.
5. Embrace alone time
Jesus often took time for himself. We concede that it’s really hard to get away from people in Malta, but ensuring you carve out meaningful me-time could make you enjoy your time with people a whole lot more.
6. Pick yourself up when you’re down
It goes without saying (especially today) that Jesus was the King of this. In today’s super-competitive, multimedia, hyper-communicative world it’s so easy to feel you’ve fallen short. When you do – get back up and try again. Also, make sure to help your friends to rebound from hard times – think Jesus and Lazarus.
7. Be clear with what you say
Jesus advised people to make sure that yes meant yes, and no meant no. In a world where everything we do and say is recorded online, this Jesus Hack reminds us to be sincere and thoughtful with the things we put out into the world. #StopTheFakeNews
BONUS: Remember that love conquers all
Jesus was all about it, and we should be too. There’s so much nasty shit going on the world – the only way to battle it is with love and kindness. #preach
