Wikipedia Warrior Hilariously Trolls In-City Valletta Beach Volleyball Setup

A controversial, in-city beach volleyball setup has been constructed in the middle of St. George’s Square, Valletta in a bid to ‘celebrate summer’.

Organised by Valletta 2018, the tournament will run from July 17th till the 22nd, and saw an arena filled with a staggering 50 tonnes of sand in an inflatable pop-up court. While some people questioned why we weren’t using one of our very-readily-available beaches, one person chose to go a different route than a post on Facebook, instead they turned to Wikipedia.

Editing La Valette’s page, the ‘early life’ section was changed to say:

“Little else is known about de La Valette’s early life except for the fact that he was extremely fond and passionate for ballonsable a game akin to modern beach volleyball. Later on in life, after the completion of the City of Valletta, a space was left in front of the Grandmaster’s Palace, St. George’s Square today, for Grandmaster de la Valette to practice ballonsable in the mornings after morning prayers and mass.”

Oh snap!

This wasn’t the first dig at the discordant setup in one of Valletta’s main squares. Earlier this week a sketch showing the statue of Queen Victoria gearing up for the tournament made the rounds on social media.
