Did You See It? This Morning’s Double Rainbow Over Birgu

Article Featured Image

If you’ve been meaning to have your fill of awesome nature from the Maltese Isles, then the first day of this week did not disappoint. A beautiful double rainbow appeared over Birgu this morning, and it looked as amazing as it sounds.

According to Fen Shui writer Lillian Too, a double rainbow is a sign from the universe to whoever sees it that they’re about to have something great fall into their laps. In (much) more scientific terms, while a rainbow is visible when light is reflect off the back of a raindrop, a second (and usually dimmer) rainbow can be seen when light is reflected twice, in a way more complicated pattern. The colours of the second rainbow are inverted, with blue on the outside and red on the inside.

Whether you look at it from a purely scientific perspective or prefer to contemplate on its magical and mythical implications, though, there’s no denying the beauty of this morning’s double rainbow over the Maltese Islands.
