Disney, Debuts And Discos: 11 Events To Kick Off The Last Month Of 2019 In Malta

It’s the beginning of the end for 2019 which means you only have so much time to complete this year’s resolutions… including attending some kick-ass events.

Lined up this weekend is a mixed bag of events including a couple of album launches, Christmas markets, raves and throwbacks as well as a highly-anticipated craft beer market. If you can’t find something on this list that tickles your fancy, you have issues.

Friday 6th December

1. Noogie’s Dark Debut

Three years since releasing their self-titled EP, hard rock act Noogie’s Crew will finally be releasing their highly-anticipated debut album Till Dark Returns at The Garage.

Supported by Mythril and featuring numerous special guests, Noogie’s album launch is where you’ll find all metalheads this weekend.

2. Karmaġenn!

Noah Fabri and friends will be unveiling Karmaġenn, a collaborative album detailing a story of Junior College students and their problematic high school crushes during the Christmas period.

The launch will take place at Offbeat Jazz Bar in Valletta.

3. Punk and Electro collab

Punk, hardcore and electronic music are coming together as part of the art exhibition ‘A State of Limbo.’

Double Standard and KHaos will be joining forces for a night of socio-political infused music at Spazju Kreattiv. Those present can also enjoy a multidisciplinary exhibition featuring large-scale paintings and installations by James Micallef Grimaud.

4.  A Disney Christmas concert for children

Malta’s National Children’s Choir is teaming up with Disney characters for a set of magical Christmas concerts in Valletta, featuring some of the best Christmas songs coupled with the latest hits. The best way to treat your child to some Christmas cheer!

Saturday 7th December

5. Pimpfs Post-Punk Party

The second installment of the Pimpf series is being held at Rumours in Pieta and will feature the latest Darkwave/Post-Punk hits by The Chemist and Monoform.

6. MPO takes on a Disney classic

The live-action film version of the Disney classic The Lion King will be performed here in Malta thanks to the efforts of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.

In another edition of ‘In Concert Live To Film’, the MPO will be covering some of our childhood anthems from The Lion King and you only have one night to relive it. Happening this Saturday, this one is bound to arouse a sense of nostalgia.

7. The first of many Christmas markets

A pop-up Christmas market is setting up shop in Sliema featuring some of the best independent designers Malta has to offer. In addition to some Christmas shopping, the market will have vendors selling warm tea and Christmas tunes echoing down the streets, perfect to get you in that festive vibe!

8. Kicking off the winter season at Liquid is…

… Dasha Rush and Manthrax.

The Russian-born DJ will be heading to Malta this weekend to perform at Liquid alongside local DJ Manthrax in what will be the opening for Liquid’s winter season.

9. A winter throwback

Gianpula is hosting another 80s throwback for all you boomers out there. The Reflex 80s party will feature some of the greatest nostalgic hits from Madonna to Wham and Bon Jovi to Duran Duran. For one night only, you won’t be in the presence of annoying Gen-Zers, and the phrase ‘Ok boomer’ will just be ‘Ok’.

10. Berlin meets Sliema

The Bunker Rave will be hosting its last night at Cloudberry Sliema featuring Berlin artists Pascale Voltaire and Unknwn Intrsctn along with local artists Roberta Nicholls, Bionic and DjNicoTean.

Sunday 8th December

11. Taps & Trucks

Food and beer. The perfect combination to put an end to your weekend (and cure your Sunday hangover).

Taps & Trucks is Malta’s only Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival and will feature some of the best craft beers, delicious food and entertainment for your Sunday chills.
