Agriculture Educational Facility Proposed On Pristine ODZ Land In Bidnija
A plant-biology and agriculture educational teaching facility is being proposed on ODZ land in the rural town of Bidnija.
The site, situated along Xagħriet Ta’ Fraxku in Triq il-Bidnija, is destined for agricultural use, and such development falls under the classification of educational use.
The application was filed by Raymond Debono, who is the owner of the site, together with perit Joseph Saliba.
Plans outline the construction of a class 2C plant-biology and agricultural teaching facility over an existing reservoir with an adjacent greenhouse.
A concerned resident sent photos of the pristine and untouched piece of land to Lovin Malta, which amounts to 131 square metres.
“We live in this rural area on the way to Żebbiegħ, and we noticed the development notification hung on the rubble walls. No building should be constructed here,” the resident lamented.
“I would like to object to this PA since there is absolutely no basis whatsoever to allow the conversion of perfectly good agricultural land for this purpose in the Bidnija local plan, irrespective of the nature-based educational offer which can be accommodated in non-ODZ,” one representation reads.
Representations are open until 18th November.
