The officials witnessed the young turtle, who was named Daniel after one of the officers, experiencing trouble while diving down.

Malta’s Wildlife Rescue Team, led by Nature Trust, thanked the officials for their efforts, confirming that Daniel has now been taken under their care.

“A big thanks to #ERA officials who rescued a turtle in distress in the area of Filfla. The juvenile loggerhead was found not diving. It was passed over to Nature Trust – Wildlife Rehab and is now under monitoring,” the Wildlife Rescue Team posted on social media.

“The young turtle was called Daniel after one of the ERA enforcement officers.”
