#EndFossilFinance: Protest Happening In Valletta This Friday As Part Of Global Climate Strike

A march will take place in Valletta on Friday to demand an end to fossil financing, as part of an international climate strike organised by the Fridays For Future movement.

It will take place on 3rd March and will start at 5pm in Msida for cyclists and at 5:30pm in Valletta for pedestrians. Protestors will then convene and march to Parliament to demand that the Maltese government stop using fossil fuels, make renewable energy more accessible, and priortise people over cars.

Meanwhile, worldwide protests and strikes will be calling out banks, finance ministers, companies, and governments to end fossil fuel finance.

”Local activists, including ones from Moviment Graffitti and Extinction Rebellion Malta will gather in Valletta, along with thousands of protestors worldwide, for the global climate strike,” event organiser Dawn Sammut told Lovin Malta.

“After the Maltese government reluctantly declared a climate emergency in 2019, little to no actions have been carried out to mitigate the effects of climate change, both locally and globally. Which is why our national leaders and decision makers will be called to end fossil finance and act now because tomorrow is too late.”
