Environment Ministry Outspends Colleagues In Maltese TV Advertising By Far
The Environment Ministry has spent close to €700,000 on television advertising for 2018, outspending other ministries by hundreds of thousands.
A series of parliamentary questions tabled by MP Jason Azzopardi revealed how the Department for Rural Development alone spent €290,000 in the last calendar year.
Wasteserv had a TV advertising expenditure of €170,00, which is likely attributed to the ‘Sort-It-Out’ campaign.
The Fisheries and Agriculture Department (€87,900) and the Division for Sustainable Development, Environment and Climate Change (€78,000) also significantly spent.
On the other hand, the Environment Resources Authority, an important counterweight to the ever more powerful Planning Authority, spent just €9,500 on such advertisements.
To put things into perspective, the closest spenders are the Ministry of Culture (€171,000), who dealt with V18 last year, and the Ministry for Family and Social Solidarity (€99,669).
It should be noted that some of Environment Ministry’s adverts were partially funded by the EU.
