Fish Farm Behind Last Weekend’s Feeding Frenzy In Xemxija Still Assessing Damage Caused

P2M, the St. Paul’s Bay fish farm which unknowingly provided overly-eager Maltese with an abundance of awrat, is still assessing damages caused by this weekend’s storm.

Swells have meant that the operator has been faced with challenges in ascertaining the extent of storm’s effects.

The Maltese Federation of Aquaculture Producers’s CEO, Charlon Gouder, echoed similar sentiments, telling Lovin Malta that operators have only just started going out to examine the pens.

On yesterday’s free-for-all sea bream buffet, P2M said that the company still did not know “whether the fish were lifted out of the pen by waves or if the pen was ripped in rough weather”.

“We have never seen conditions like that in our 30-year history”

Sea Bream has since been making its appearance at a make-shift fish farm market in Xemxija, with The Times of Malta reporting how buckets of the fish were being sold at price of €10 for every 5.

Meanwhile, it was reported that some people returned to Xemxija earlier today for yet another round of picking up fish from the streets of the seaside town.
