Get Your Flower Power On: Festa Fjuri Brightening Iklin’s Streets Once Again

Iklin Local Council is organising another edition of Festa Fjuri on Saturday between 9am and 2pm, with the theme “love nature to stay healthy”.

“Socio-cultural and educational activities like Festa Fjuri offer residents a sense of community – while also reinforcing the identity of this locality,” said Labour MP Alison Zerafa Civelli.

The cultural and educational activities being celebrated are intended to promote human caretaking of nature, and will include a display of 10,000 plants in a Petunia flower arrangement designed by a local artist – which will be distributed amongst Iklin residents after the event.

As a result, Festa Fjuri will have a lasting aesthetic impact on the locality, which will have its gardens, parapets and balconies adorned with bright, beautiful flowers.

In the morning, a number of speakers will present on a variety of topics including local ecology, biodiversity and Maltese endemic plants during an Eco Cafe session.

These expert speakers will provide the community a rare opportunity to listen in on specialised insights on subjects close to the community’s heart – particularly in times of troubling environmental crisis.

Iklin Mayor Dorian Sciberras also explained that the Local Council issued a call of interest for Iklin’s artists to exhibit their work and participate during this activity – adding that he is committed to facilitating community engagement and working in favour of inclusiveness.
