Green Lungs? Joseph Portelli Associates File 45-Apartment Block Plans To Replace Mosta Fields
A company directly associated with construction tycoon Joseph Portelli has just filed an application to transform fields in Mosta into a 45-apartment block.
The development application was filed by Clifton Cassar from CF developers, which is a company partly owned by Portelli, along with architect Maria Schembri Grima, who is also a chairperson on the Building and Construction Authority.
The plot amounts to 1,279 square metres and is situated along Trejqet il-Bajtar, Triq il-Ħtajriet, and Triq Baskal Buhagiar, within a relatively quiet residential area in the locality.
The application proposes the demolition of existing properties, excavation of the plot and construction of 45 garages at basement levels -1 and -2, a substation at -1.
It also includes a class 4A office, 45 apartments from ground floor level upwards including seven maisonettes and six penthouses with a jacuzzi, amounting to four storeys above ground.
The massive apartment block would replace a number of fields and small houses with gardens along with an old dovecote which is still used to this day.
In the application, it is also outlined that while the applicant is not the owner of the entire site, they have notified the existing owners and they have granted consent.
