Hotelier Carlo Stivala Proposes New 15-Storey Hotel To Replace Houses Along Sliema Front

An application for a sizeable 15-storey hotel has recently been filed by hotelier Carlo Stivala, to be situated along the Sliema Ferries front.
The proposed development will replace the current three-to-four-storey houses situated on the corner of Triq San Vinċenz, opposite Sliema Ferries.
Whilst keeping the majority of the existing facades, the development will consist of 14 floors plus receded floor level.
The site is situated on a corner and a small part of it is located within the Urban Conservation Area and the Sliema primary town centre.
The proposal includes a restaurant at the ground floor level, ancillary offices, meeting, and conference rooms at levels one to four, hotel rooms at levels five to fourteen, and a bar, pool, and deck at receded floor level.
The permit in question, PA/02965/23 was designed by architect Robert Musumeci and is being developed by applicant Stivala and architects Falzon & Cutajar.
Triq San Viċenz mostly consists of three-storey old houses which conform to a certain style typical of the Sliema urban core and which residents claimed will be shadowed by the 15-storey hotel.

Approved side-elevation on Triq San Vinċenz
The current building includes a Labour Party Club which will be replaced by the hotel, if approved.
