‘Leave Fur Behind’: Last Chance To Sign European Petition Calling To Ban ‘Cruel’ Industry

Here’s your last chance to sign a European petition calling for a continent-wide ban of the fur farming industry.
The petition already garnered over 1.6 million signatures, arguing the fur industry is unethical, unsafe, and unsustainable.
For these reasons, the European Citizens’ Initiative is calling upon the EU to ban fur farms and ban farmed fur products from the European market, describing the industry as cruel.
“Be part of achieving history! Act now by adding your name to the Initiative. This is not just a petition. Once we reach one million validated signatures, the European Commission is obliged to respond and take action,” the petition reads.
Due to the nature of fur farming, it is impossible to improve the welfare of animals on fur farms. Whilst no animals should live in a caged environment, the keeping of inherently wild species in cages can only be defined as abject cruelty.
“The keeping and killing of animals solely for the purpose of fur production are ethically unacceptable,” they argue.
Meanwhile, the placing of fur products on the internal markets of several territories and jurisdictions has already been prohibited. This includes dog and cat fur within the EU.
The European Citizens’ Initiative is an effective way for EU citizens to help shape our future by calling on the European Commission to propose new laws.
