Malta’s Latest Amazing Initiative Finds Fool-Proof Alternative To Single-Use Plastic Bags

Single-use plastic bags: the herpes of all shopping utensils. Much as you’d like to get rid of them, they just keep showing up when you least expect it and you’re pretty much lumped with them.

Sometimes it feels like there is no other alternatives to use. Paper bags are too fragile, and those giant shopping bags look like you’re carrying parachutes. Luckily for us, two Maltese people have come up with an incredible solution under the name of Veco. They’ve found a way to reduce the use of single-use plastic bags in the most efficient way possible to save our environment!

Veco offers you a convenient and reusable classy bag to use when grocery shopping. These veggie bags are made of 100% RPET mesh which is extremely light but super strong. They can hold up to two kilograms of produce and can be conveniently closed using drawstrings.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, RPET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, a recycled plastic material used for bottles which can be used over and over again because it’s super sturdy!

These nifty bags even come with their own super convenient pouch for easy storage on your way to the shops. The bags can also be used to extend the freshness of any produce you buy. Since the mesh material used allows air to enter, your fruit and vegetables will keep fresh for longer than it would in a standard plastic bag!
