Malta’s own cleanup hero Mark Galea Pace challenged the summit of Mount Everest, donning the Maltese flag along the defiant climb, whilst cleaning up the trek leading to the gripping cold base camp at altitudes of 5,364 meters.

“Malta, I’ve done it,” Mark said on Instagram upon reaching the target site, proudly showing the radiant Maltese flag whilst surrounded by white peaks that give shivering chills to the viewer.

Mark praised his wife Ruth, dedicating this hard-fought feat and proud moment to her for being his “most avid supporter”.

The trek and cleanup was organised by the Coast Is Clear Foundation, which Mark founded to raise awareness on the importance of keeping the environment clean

Mark, we highly congratulate your enduring challenge with a proud cheer and we hope to see you face bigger challenges in the future!
