Maltese NGO Grows 1,000 New Trees As Founder Says: ‘Giving Up Is Not An Option’

Steve Zammit Lupi, environmentalist and independent councillor of Ħaż-Żebbuġ, has celebrated the success of the eNGO Għaqda Siġar Maltin after it managed to grow 1,000 Maltese trees.
The organisation, which was founded by Zammit Lupi, Ryan Vella and four others, focuses on the growth of indigenous trees.
Calling it ” a positive story” to share, Zammit Lupi said that they “decided to get (their) hands dirty, and started sowing (their) own seeds” as they “were concerned about the lack of trees, and awareness.”
“Motivating each other to grow more and more”, their small nurseries are now “home to 1000 indigenous trees!”
Zammit Lupi continued that although they “strive to create awareness and lobby for positive changes in our communities” and that whilst trees “are mentioned for all the wrong reasons, giving up is not an option!”
Ending that one should “not underestimate the power of positive change”.
