Marsaskala Sees Highest Number Of New Apartments With 200 Dwellings Approved In Three Months

Marsaskala has registered the highest number of new dwellings across Malta and Gozo with 203 approved in the last quarter of 2022 alone.

Meanwhile, 357 building permits for a total of 2,064 new dwellings were approved during the last three months, the National Statistics Office has found. 

The second highest new dwellings registered were shockingly in Rabat, Gozo, with the third highest being in San Pawl il-Baħar.

The number of approved new dwellings increased by 33.2 percent when compared to the same quarter of the previous year

It has also been outlined that apartments made up 68.7 percent of the total number of approved new dwellings.

The majority of new dwellings approved during the last quarter of 2022 were apartments (1,417), followed by penthouses (343), maisonettes (201), terraced houses (94), and other residential units (Table 1).

When compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021, the number of building permits increased by 0.3 percent while the average number of approved new dwellings per building permit stood at 5.8.

Apartments accounted for 68.7 percent of the total number of approved new dwellings.

Meanwhile, the highest number of approved new dwellings was registered in the South Eastern district at 515, while the lowest number was recorded in the Western District at 210 dwellings.
