Nadur Nadif Collect 70 Bags Worth Of Trash During Six-Hour Comino Clean-Up

Gozo-based organisation Nadur Nadif has once again outdone itself, collecting 70 bags worth of trash from the little island of Comino over the weekend.
In collaboration with the custodian of the Santa Marija tower and many other volunteers, their Saturday was spent cleaning up another section of the island.
“In an effort to rid Comino of all the litter that has accumulated over the last 50 years”, the group members spent around six hours cleaning two main locations.
“Undoubtedly, this event was surely a great success to tackle this issue but knowing that the main aim of the Natura 2000 initiative was to ensure the long-term survival of Europe’s most valuable and threatened species and habitats, it’s a pity to see some areas of the island that are completely covered with a layer of garbage,” Nadur Nadif said in a statement.
“That is why we appeal to all those that visit Comino (or any other Natura 2000 site), to respect such areas of a high level of environmental protection,” it appealed.
“Let’s be the solution to the conservation of such sites and not the problem!”
Nadur Nadif was set up by the youth ambassador and the Nadur local council in November 2017, aiming to raise awareness on environmental matters in the Maltese islands.
Since its inception, the volunteers of Nadur Nadif aimed to create awareness on the degradation of the environment in the locality, by organising monthly clean-ups.
Well done Nadur Nadif!
