Now That’s One Productive Weekend! Local NGOs Team Up For Seabed Clean Up In Marsaskala

Approximately 800 kilos of rubbish were collected in just three hours during a clean-up in Marsaskala last weekend.

As part of the KSFA Charity events last weekend, 14 individuals from Divemed, Żibel, Raniero’s Adventures and No To Plastic banded together to carry out a seabed clean up. What they ended up with was both impressive and shocking…

Turns out most of the debris was glass bottles (shocking) and fishing gear.

Thankfully, organisations like KSFA organise these events with the aim to educate people on marine conservation, including ethical fishing practices, in hope of avoiding these situations in the future.

“Hopefully in the future less amounts are collected, showing that people are handling their unwanted goods as they should.” KSA said on a Facebook post.

Talk about a productive Sunday afternoon!
