The Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) is asking people to share their thoughts on a new plan to protect Malta’s plants and animals, called the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2030.

The Strategy and Action Plan will guide the development of specific policies and actions in relation to biodiversity management at a national level, by establishing a strategic framework to enable Malta to achieve the 2050 environmental objectives in a staggered approach.

The plan will help the government draft policies and take actions to protect biodiversity in five areas: conserving and restoring nature, reducing factors that harm biodiversity, using biodiversity wisely, raising awareness about biodiversity, and improving cooperation.

The Action Plan will step up national efforts to put Malta’s biodiversity on a path to recovery for the benefit of the planet and people.

The public can send their feedback by email to [email protected] by March 28, 2023. The Authority will also talk to different groups to learn more about what they think of the plan.
