Save Ħondoq Supporters Organising Celebratory Dinner After Much-Awaited Decision For Gozitan Bay
Qala Mayor Paul Buttigieg is personally inviting all supporters of the conservation of Ħondoq ir-Rummien to celebrate the much-awaited decision for the Gozitan bay.
After a 22-year campaign, a court victory recently buried the application to build 200 apartments, 25 villas, a huge hotel and yacht marina in the pristine bay.
So on 16th August, supporters of the Ħondoq movement will be gathering at the bay for an evening of good food and celebrations, among all the people who were integral for the final decision.
It’s happening from 7pm onwards, and a food menu is available at a price of €20 per adult and €10 for children. A plant based menu will also be available!

After a long and never-ending battle, the Court of Appeal declared that the Planning Authority was right to reject the new plans submitted by the developer after the EIA had been finalised.
Gozo Prestige had opposed the decision for the refusal of the application, which would have led to the eventual destruction of Ħondoq Bay.
The Qala Creek Project application first surfaced back in 2002 on 8th August, and has gone through many stages of hearings and appeals.
The proposed development encompassed a luxurious 5-star hotel with 110 bedrooms, 25 self-catering villas, 60 apartments served by the hotel, 203 additional apartments, 1,249 underground parking spaces, and a village centre featuring a church and shops.
