Swimming Warning Issued For St Thomas Bay After Contamination From Nearby Restaurant

According to a Bathing Water Directive, the Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health asks the public to avoid swimming in the marked area between A07 in Fajtata and A08 in St Thomas Bay in Marsaskala.
The foul water that was discharged from the rainwater culvert and reached the sea. This may have possibly affected the quality of the bathing water and may present a risk to bathers’ health. The EHOs investigated and found that the source of contamination was a restaurant in the vicinity. The necessary actions were taken to abate the nuisance.

Signs have been installed in the concerned area to warn the public. When the quality is restored, the signs will be removed, and another press release will be issued to notify the public that the site is again fit for bathing.
