Malta still has a fair way to go when it comes to waste management, with a recent report ranking us as the worst in the EU when it comes to recycling waste.

Yet we can all take some comfort and draw some inspiration from the effort of 4-year-Archie, who seems to have developed a passion for recycling waste.

Clean Up Malta founder and environmental activist Cami Appelgren revealed Archie’s story this weekend after his mother asked her if she had a kids’ litter picker for sale.

With litter picker in hand, Cami visited their house and came face to face with young Archie.

“He has colour coded bins in the backyard and is obsessed with recycling and bins!” Cami said. “For nearly an hour, he kept on picking up things and sorted them in his smaller bins. It’s not a joke, this little man has an impressive bin collection that would make any pro jealous!!
I need to meet more “Archies”!! Malta NEEDS more Archies!! There is hope people, I’ve met a true hero today!”
