Tree ‘Intentionally’ Damaged At Comino’s Tal-Ful Campsite During Removal Of Caravan

A camper who was at Comino’s Tal-Ful campsite last week witnessed the owners of a caravan intentionally damaging a tree while removing the caravan which was occupying space within the site.

“We witnessed the caravan being removed by its owners. It is clear that they had the help of people as they had the key to the access door to the campsite,” the man told Lovin Malta.

“As the caravan had a high structure with security cameras, it was hitting a tree at the entrance. Instead of dismantling the structure of the camper, they decided to smash the tree branch by pulling and hanging on to it,” he explained.

“The caravan was then not taken from Comino, but parked in the middle of the dirt road in the direction of Santa Marija Bay,” he said, also sending photos of where the caravan was left.

“It is a shame,” the man lamented.

Upon seeing the provided photos, taken on 7th June, Lovin Malta reached out to the Environment and Resources Authority for a comment on the matter.

“At the time of the inspection by ERA officers on Saturday morning, following the clearance of the caravan from the campsite, no such damage was observed. Anyone who has information or evidence about this incident is encouraged to report it,” a spokesperson for ERA told Lovin Malta.

“ERA officers will continue monitoring the various sensitive sites on Comino.”
