UN Claims Climate Change Is ‘Out Of Control’ After Hottest Week Ever

Are we at the point of no return?
The UN secretary general said that ‘climate change is out of control’, after the hottest week on record.
“If we persist in delaying key measures that are needed, I think we are moving into a catastrophic situation,” the secretary general, António Guterres, said.
Based on data collected by the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), the average worldwide air temperature on Tuesday 4th July rose to 17.18 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 17.01 degrees recorded on Monday.
Following that, the average global air temperature rose even higher to 17.23 degrees by Thursday.
“Chances are the month of July will be the warmest ever,” Dr. Karsten Haustein, a research fellow in atmospheric radiation at Leipzig University, said.
Heatwaves have been affecting different regions around the world, and on Thursday, the climate monitoring service of the European Union confirmed that June was the hottest June ever recorded globally.
An unusually warm winter in the Antarctic has played a significant role in setting recent temperature records. Certain areas of the continent and the adjacent ocean observed temperatures that were 10 to 20 degrees higher compared to the average temperatures recorded between 1979 and 2000.
