557-kilograms of land and sea rubbish were collected over the course of three days by students from Verdala and De La Salle together with climate NGO, Coast is Clear.

“Would you believe the size of that shipping rope drifting out at sea, potential danger to marine and human life,” the NGO wrote earlier today on social media, describing the waste it collected from the Pembroke coast.

In just one day, volunteers from Verdala and Coast is Clear collected a whopping 416-kilograms of waste, including a large rubber dinghy “shipwrecked on the rocky shores”.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, students from De La Salle joined the NGO in cleaning up Qalet Marku, collecting 141-kilograms of trash.
