Watch: A Day With Neil Agius – Young Students Make Pledge Towards Ocean As Part Of Wavemaker Initiative
Children from two different Maltese schools have made one proactive pledge towards the ocean as part of the Wavemaker School Promise initiative – in exchange for a day with the man himself Neil Agius.
The student teams, from San Anton School and Chiswick House School, first submitted their entries, which consisted of pledges taken to better take care of the ocean.
“Basically, we went into the schools and asked them to make one pledge towards the ocean and then create a video with their pledge,” Neil Agius told Lovin Malta.
“We got really good feedback, the videos were really creative, there were some who were doing clean-ups every day, some were closing the tap while they brush their teeth, some were walking to school, others were carpooling – a variety of challenges that they set themselves,” he explained.
“This is what we want to be doing in the future, trying to get the children on board and getting them to make way for change.”
“I feel that our generation is struggling to bring change so it’s really in the hands of the next generation for the real change that we want to see happen.”
“Winners have been selected, we have around sixty children and they’re going to be spending the day with me and the team of Wave of Change, where we have a number of activities planned for them, clean up, water games, lots of fun stuff and just spend some time together and keep inspiring them to keep on this path,” he said.
Results are now in, and a prize ceremony will soon be held for the Wavemaker winners, with the schools also being inaugurated as Wavemaker schools.
Well done Wavemakers!
