Comino is our island’s younger and prettier sister. Sadly we don’t really venture over there as much as we’d like to, luckily we can enjoy the lush island views thanks to this upcoming Comino documentary.

To introduce inaugurate this documentary, Xterra Malta and the Malta International Airport Foundation have organised the first sporting challenge involving both land and sea activities. The Comino SwimRun was held on Saturday morning in the run-up to the launch of an underwater natural and anthropological documentary about the pretty island.

Around 144 participants paired up for this event to swim for a total of 2 kilometres and run for another 8 kilometres. The weather conditions made it a challenging feat for the participants, however they all successfully crossed the finish line.

The first team to complete the circuit was composed of Kevin Muscat and Michael Bongailas, who clocked it in 43 minutes and 9 seconds.

“The Xterra team is very pleased with the outcome of the first ever SwimRun, with an amazing location like Comino complementing our other Malta and Gozo races. It is clear that partnerships to promote natural heritage, travel and sport, like the one we have with the Malta Airport Foundation, have great potential,” Nathan Farrugia, Race Director said.

The upcoming documentary will be exploring the island and its heritage. The aim is to raise awareness for Comino’s natural heritage.

The fees paid by the participants will be donated to support the Special Olympics Malta Team.
