A wildlife photographer has captured rare video footage of the elusive Maltese weasel, known as “ballotra”, after 18 days of patient observation in a remote countryside area.

The Maltese weasel, a subspecies of the least weasel (Mustela nivalis), is notoriously difficult to spot due to its secretive nature and dense habitat, and is often not seen.

The footage, which took many long days of patience to achieve, offers a rare glimpse of the weasel in its natural environment, highlighting its role in maintaining local ecosystems.
